Make sure they don’t have any artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. Just because these things are called “dog treats” doesn’t mean they are okay for your dog to eat. They can be poisonous.
You should also look for a vet who will approve of your homemade dog treats recipes. It’s best to start with someone who has already been trained in healthy feeding for your pet. Don’t trust your own judgment on whether the recipe is okay or not.
If you’re not sure how to make the treats, you might want to visit your local pet store and talk to a veterinarian. Have the dog checked out and see if he has any health problems.
Ask the vet what he thinks of homemade dog treats recipes. Keep in mind that they aren’t always right, and even the most careful person can accidentally poison the dog. Your dog will die if you don’t take care of him.
Also, keep in mind that you don’t have to stop cooking your dog’s meals. If you decide you want to give him some of his homemade dog treats recipes, you can do so along with him while he is still in his food trial period.
Have the dog eat the mixture several times to see if he has any problems. If you suspect he may have a problem, consult with your veterinarian.

After a dog is on homemade dog treats for a while, the dog might not need the special diet all the time. In fact, your dog could probably eat all the commercial food that he enjoys. You will just have to monitor him a bit more closely.
As he gets used to the new mix, you will have to slowly reduce the amount of food that he eats from his commercial food. This can be done a few weeks or months, depending on how your dog responds to his homemade dog treats recipes.
As a final note, homemade dog treats recipes are not good for long-term weight loss. However, they are good for the short term because the dog will get used to the taste of his homemade dog treats.

This way, you can give him small amounts of the homemade dog treats recipes every so often to keep him on track.
